Glossy Ibis - back feathers raised for cooling?

Yesterday I noticed that the Giralang Pond Glossy Ibis had, at times,
raised feathers on its back.

Without thinking about it, I supposed the wind had raised the feathers.

This morning I accompanied the bird as it fed its way along the Giralang
drain.

Until about 10 am it was reasonably cool and the bird did not raise its
back feathers.

When the sun came out and it became very warm very quickly, the bird did
raise its back feathers, as per attached image.

Was it raising its back feathers to cool itself?
