I have been wondering about the strange call I have heard in answer to a Koel
call, a couple of times yesterday and maybe the day before that. Having played
the call on the web, the call is very similar, except my bird only called a few
times in conjunction with the Koel. I wonder if anyone else heard this call in
the Weston Duffy region?

Subject: Outfoxed by a Channel-billed Cuckoo
This morning I heard a Channel-billed Cuckoo call just the once down Haig Park
way, perhaps somewhere near Sullivan's 'Creek'.
I grabbed the camera and set off.
I heard a family of Australian Ravens, along with some smaller players, going
beserk.
Aha!
So I stalked the noise carefully and was guided to the fox that was running
around on the ANU oval next to Barry Drive being harrassed by said Australian
Ravens and sundries.
There was no sign of the Cuckoo.
regards
Con
