I normally rate our property as off the main migration route of the honeyeaters but over the past 2 days I have seen flocks of 30-50 birds flying along the routes indicated by the arrows
The blue arrow is where I have seen them on the morning dog walk (~8am) and the red arrow somewhat later in the day (~1030). The stream seems fairly constant with a flock about every 5 minutes which equates to somewhat over 1000 a day as a minimum count. They just miss my GBS site. There sometmes a few White-naped mixed in. In terms of the Yellow-faced Honeyeaters it may be intersting to note that the first of the species to return here arrived in mid-August and judging by their singing have set up territories.
So the later birds just keep heading on.
