Geoffrey's Galahs seem to be eating chickweed. Both the chickweed species are edible according to The Weed Foragers Handbook. They make a different and nutritious change from bought lettuces we've found.

The lapwing chicks mentioned yesterday were not the ones at Kelly Swamp but the ones in Commonwealth Park, getting a graphic airing  following the discussion about birds at Floriade.  The fact is there are quite a few of these chaps around Canberra at the moment, relishing the thriving sodden lawns and the absence of mowers  -  along with these lawn connoisseurs, also enjoying Commonwealth Park.
