Counted 7 rainbow lorikeets yesterday quietly feeding on flowering ironbark trees adjacent to the stretch of cycle path reserve in Cook running between Redfern St and Lyttleton Crescent. They were closest to the Lyttleton end. Similar trees at the Redfern
end, with more abundant flowers, were dominated by a large aggregation of red wattlebirds, 23+ over just 4 trees - much vigorous vocalising and movement in and around the trees. Too chaotic for the lorikeets perhaps?

A small group (3 or 4) of rainbow lorikeets were feeding on flowering ironbark at the Southern Cross/Capital TV site in Watson today. First time I’ve seen rainbow lorikeets in Watson. |
