To add to Julie's comprehensive report. I have seen adult Spotted and Spotless Crakes along the creek line in the last few days. Spootted crake right up close by the foot bridge, just where they were easy to see last year.  If you need a good look as Golden-headed cisticolas, there are heaps of them along the creek.

Hi All,

Highlights of recent visits to Forde Creek: (Same area as the spotted crakes and buff-banded rails bred last season)
  • A very young Lewin's Rail (see photo) - very brief views
  • An adult Lewin's Rail seen the following day (even briefer view and very poor photo!)
  • Latham's Snipe seems to have taken up residence
  • Copulating Black-fronted Dotterels
  • Spotted Crake/s - not sure if there is more than one .. views too brief and distant so far
Cheers
Julie
