I was there again yesterday and today. The Leaden Flycatchers likely have eggs and the pair swap sitting duties about every 5 to 10 minutes, neither leaves the vicinity by more than about 20 metres. They call a lot. It was interesting to see the male Leaden Flycatchers attack a Noisy Friarbird today about 5 metres from the LF nest, hitting it on the head as it swooped by (that implies displeasure rather than cooperation) but it was much more determined at attacking up to 3 Noisy Miners. As it happens Noisy Miners are building a nest in the tree adjacent to the tree holding the Noisy Friarbird’s nest. I also happened to meet one of the local rangers today and after having corresponded about the issue with the Ranger in Charge – Murrumbidgee and now showing the nests, they will be looked after during the prospective pruning session.
