Hi Philip

Many thanks for helping us find the nest.

Here’s a shot of the female looking very comfortable….

Thanks again

Patrick

On Sunday I wrote the below: On going out to the same site this morning to show two others who had requested an opportunity to photograph the Leaden Flycatcher’s nest (on a dead branch of a eucalypt), and actually more like 15 metres from the car park. I find there is indeed a fully formed Noisy Friarbird’s nest high in a Casuarina and being attended by the adults, this is within about 15 metres of the Leaden Flycatcher’s nest. Am I right that it was Michael Lenz who first described this interesting frequent co-nesting of these 2 species? Also the behaviour of the Leaden Flycatcher pair of today was more suggestive of brooding, whereas on Sunday they were still building an almost complete nest.

We also noted that both the trees housing these nests have blue arrows painted on them. I am wondering if that indicates an intent to prune these trees (only a few weeks ago there was heavy pruning of many trees out at Pine Island. If so can I contact someone to request delay?

...........

Also this morning, watching a pair of Leaden Flycatchers building a nest and swapping times sitting in it. Also Noisy Friarbirds nearby and they often nest near but I didn’t find any NF nests. (The nest is easy to find and would be easy to photograph being about 5 metres from the car park which is about 2 km from Tuggeranong hyperdome) if someone wants to ask me.

I found many nestings in the 2 days without trying too hard.

Philip
