It is funny that they do that, as it would seem to completely remove the usual advantage they have of camouflage in their usual small stack of twigs nest.

 

Funny also to go from mouth to plural of mice....... but I suppose it sounds good.......

My pair in a conventional (for Frogmice) nest also have two chicks, which they are occasionally having to defend against the forces of darkness nesting, as usual a little higher up the same tree.

Recently Matt sent a photo to the chatline of a frogmouth sitting on eggs in a borrowed choughs' nest. Yesterday I took this photo of the same nest with at least two chicks visible beside the dad.
