I heard and saw a male yesterday afternoon on the North Ainslie Primary School oval and then was woken up by one this morning.
My son heard one on Friday. Definitely back. 5 years ago, when I heard the first ever, it was after Christmas (though I only got back to the area at the beginning of December).

A couple of months ago our new neighbours axed both red flowering gums they had in their garden. Haven't seen Red Wattlebirds for a while, but spotted some - and heard more - this morning when I did an Aussie Backyard Bird Count.

A male Koel was calling in our garden in O’Connor when we got back from holiday on Friday 16th.  Yesterday (17th) we heard the male-female interaction.

This morning from the same quarter the unmistakeable excited ‘kuk-kuk-kuk’ which is usually only given when both sexes are near one another

Yes Jack  -  earlyish arrival.  Again this morning, vicinity of Carnegie Crescent

Thanks Geoffrey, that does seem to be an early Koel arrival compared with the past few years when it was closer to the end of October.

Will the much warmer weather forecast over the next week mean an influx could be expected?
