Thanks Tun Pin, interesting photo. I watched two Swifties feeding high in the flowering Yellow Gum this morning, both seemed to move as freely as these agile little birds normally do but views were just too distant to see if either of them was the bird in your photo.

I saw 4 Swifties on the 6th June but have only seen a maximum of 2 since I got home this week. It’s now about 2 months since we first recorded them, we feel very privileged!

Regards

Steve

Dear Canberran Birders,

Since the Swift Parrots may be still hanging around. It is worthwhile to keep an eye on an individual whether it is still around. Early June I had noticed at least on 2 visits an individual that showed sign of abnormal right claw.

Attached please find the photo link to an otherwise crappy photo that shows the claws protruding outwards that were not used to cling on the branch.

Apology that I was not able to attach photos to this group easily due to size constraint and I am not familiar with resizing using my current iMac Photo application.

or generally my photos of Swiftie

Many thanks to Steve and whoever reported the sighting, showed the direction and showed me at the field earlier. Many, including myself had a very rewarding encounter with this very rare parrot.

Regards,

Tun Pin

Having just returned from 10 days away, I was pleased to hear Swift Parrots calling again this morning, sounded like a couple at least. Then managed to see a single bird feeding in the flowering Yellow Gum in the nature reserve through the rain and mist. Their drinking spot, which had dried up, is now a watercourse a few metres across.
