It is now too late to be a very useful thing to comment (it closes in a 38
minutes) but today was my opportunity to see this Exhibition on native bird
feathers at Nishi Gallery. Especially after my last month COG talk about
identifying feathers. This was a very nicely done exhibition, with a
combination of artistic styles showing feathers in isolation or some in
combinations. The paintings were really nicely done with great feel for
texture. Paintings of course obscured sizes, which makes the identity
sometimes harder to pick. There was a good feel for selections with lots of
choice for the distinctive, colourful or interesting, so I could identify
most quite easily. Nearly all were identified correctly. At least two glass
frames showed selections of real feathers (parrots & S-c Cockatoo) these
were really well done considering how very difficult it is to line up lots
of little feathers and frame them together (I know as I have tried it too).
Really impressive delicate work.
Then I came home to watch the repeat of the TV tribute to William T Cooper.
He said he is rarely happy that he has done a great job - or similar words,
wow he still left everyone else way behind.......

Hi there, I would like to extend an invitation to come to the opening of
an exhibition that might be of interest to your community.
It's a collection of paintings, drawings and textiles depicting native
Australian bird feathers.
I have met a few members of your community whilst looking for the
feathers of the powerful owl living in Turner, and I would love to be
able to let them know about this exhibition.
The exhibition opens on the night of the 8th of May, 6-9pm and closes on
Sunday the 17th of May. I hope to see you there.
Kind Regards,
Meg Morton
