There were 82 Plumed Whistling-ducks (trucking yard lane site) and 124
Shelducks (Hoskinston Rd site) yesterday from around 9.45 to 10.30 am.
There were wonderful numbers of Superb Parrots doing their utmost to
display their beauty, their agility, and their ability to drink from
temporary puddles at the AIS carpark earlier in the morning.
It turned out that while the Turner Powerful Owl is significant to many
of us ACTeeters, it was not on top of the list of wants of my owl-jaded
Victorians.
Low point of the day was the evident geographic spread of Noisy Miners
within Campbell Park.
There was a single very jittery Sacred Kingfisher at JWNR.
The JWNR Yellow-faced Honeyeaters were flying over in small numbers
except for the ones that had taken to feeding very low, allowing both
good views and some nice images to be captured.
Thanks for the advice and especially to Terry Bird who went out of his
way to search for and confirm the presence of the Turner Powerful Owl
and then let me know by phone.
regards
Con
