At about 1430 this afternoon I counted 54 Plumed Whistling Ducks at Trucking Yard Lane. Half were standing a metre or so back from the dam while the others were bunked down between the waterline and the rim of the dam. They just seemed to be sheltering from the wind and not feeding as observed by Julienne. I didn't have time to stop to count the Shelducks at Bungendore Meadow but there were a lot of them. I would agree with Julienne's count of at least 100, possibly approaching the 150 seem recently by Mark Clayton. (I did shout out that their presence was needed at Kelly's Swamp to boost people's ACT year lists but I am not sure they heard me.)
