We saw a hobby, at the SE corner, perhaps even not quite truly Campbell Park,
to the east of the car park. The bird sat, perched on a branch for some time,
allowing me to get quite close. After it flew about 20 magpies came and perched
in the same tree. None of them harassed it though
Also we were sad to see that a buff rumped thornbill's nest which a pair of
birds were building a week before had been parasitised. Half of it was on the
ground. This is the second pair of brth that we have seen nesting, and the
nest was parasitised. With the first nest, early in the season, Geoffrey took
a photo of a parent bring 2 worms to feed the chicks. They were well advanced.
Has anyone seen brth successfully raise chicks this season?
We saw dusky wood swallow feeding young in a nest but there was no sign of
white browed wood swallows. They were there last week
