Dropped into Acacia inlet on my way into Civic on Sunday morning, and spotted a night heron in willows between the inlet and the Aboriginal art centre. it flew (of course!) when I got my camera, and I think ended up in the thick foliage at lake edge closer to ANU end of lake. Have not previously seen night herons near Acacia Inlet, but no reason why they wouldn't like all those willows.

Neighbours reported a Nankeen Night Heron along the Molonglo Valley a few days ago.  I was able to relocate the bird this morning.  I have done a blog post for the information of Carwoola residents, which may also be of interest to this group.
