Many
(>20) years ago when I worked at Lovett Tower in Woden, I saw one Nankeen Night Heron in a small (not especially
thick) tree in front of the building beside the health centre and car park, when
I arrived for work in the morning. As I am not an early starter there would
already have been many people pass very close by. But it had gone by lunch time.
Is that useful information now? Probably not, other than that they can end up in
odd places.

-----Original Message----- Dropped
into Acacia inlet on my way into Civic on Sunday morning, and spotted
a night heron in willows between the inlet and the Aboriginal art centre. it
flew (of course!) when I got my camera, and I think ended up in the thick
foliage at lake edge closer to ANU end of lake. Have not previously seen night
herons near Acacia Inlet, but no reason why they wouldn't like all those
willows.
