The editors of Gang-gang may wish to use the following as the trip report for this outing. 10 Members braved the weather, which turned out to be not too foul, although "layers" was word of the day. Despite quite strong wind there was no precipitation and a good range of birds presented themselves. The main expected attraction was the flowering Grevilleas (G. juniperina and G lanigera) which had been hoped to bring in many honeyeater species. In the event A number of nests from earlier years were located and breeding records covered 3 species: Australian Magpie, Nest with Young; Pacific Black Duck, Dependent Young and Pied Currawong, Occupied Nest. The last was intriguing as an adult flew in a fed a begging occupant in the nest (so was assumed to be a Nest with Young record) but when the bird flew from the nest it was clearly full-size and lacked the yellow gape expected of a fledgling. In total we recorded 48 species, including several seen hanging out in the car park before we headed off. A full list of species will be added to the COG Trips page in due course. The editors of Gang-gang may wish to include the following in the future trips area. The Wednesday Walk for November will be on 19 Novemeber to Stoney Creek Nature Park at Urriara East. Meet at 8:30 (note earlier time due to potential heat) at the South end of the car park. Note that roads have been realigned in this area and there is very poor signposting to Urriara: go towards Stromlo Forest Park and turn off just before Dave McInnes Drive on to Urriara Rd. I suggest allow several minutes more for the trip than in the past. A copy of the birdlist is attached and my blogpost has a few images and quips.
