Thanks for that reported sighting of the Noisy Pitta at Bermagui. Especially with the clear image.

I have made a report of one at Berrima, not only south of Sydney, but at altitude.

After considerable chasing around, i eventually got the following message:

from Alan Morris, Moderator Birdline NSW.
Alan said that:
"Noisy Pittas are on the move south.
There are three separate places on the Central Coast
where you can hear them call (but not all the time) at the moment!
"While the southern normal breeding limit is the Barrington Tops/Gloucester area
(not Coffs Harbour), they are being seen more regularly further south.
"There are regular reports for the Illawarra Region too
although mostly in winter,
but birds are now being reported all year round near Mt Keira I think!"

The point about the southerly reports, in winter seems to fit with the current report.

I notice that this has already been reported on Eremaea.
