4 species of heron in the area this morning, sadly none of them was an Aus Bittern! Checked the relevant area of the creek, also North McKellar Pond, where Julian last saw it the previous evening. Could easily have missed it as there are plenty of places for it to hide. Great find Duncan.

I have just had an excellent view of an Australasian Bittern in Ginninderra Creek, Giralang. I am kicking myself for not having my camera on me, and the bird was not visible when I came back with it.

 

It was in the reeds, down stream of Giralang Pond. I'll be a keeping a very close eye on the area, with camera in hand.
