certainly an interesting obs. You may also want to look at the article by Stephen Wallace in CBN 37 (3), 2012, 161-166:" Autumn breeding of the Speckled Warbler in the ACT". Your obs. fit in well with the previously recorded pattern of breeding events.

The young birds looked straight off the nest to me – very clumsy, with rudimentary tails and little bits of down sticking out of their heads. In the COG atlas there is a record of a nest with young in April, and I think there was a late record last year too. A long breeding season considering they start in winter, the good rains in early autumn may be the cause. Or perhaps it’s a regular occurrence and just hasn’t been noticed very often.

 

Also of interest, 3 or 4 Fuscous Honeyeaters and a couple of brown Rose Robins.
