I counted 42 Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos flying overhead at Uriarra Village en route from the river to the vicinity of Blue Range Park at 5.30 pm today. A few fly along this route every day - towards the river in the mornings and towards the Brindabellas in the late afternoon – but this was the biggest group for a while. The record for me is 129 at a time.

Stomlo Park late morning many groups of up to 50 YFHE crossed the lower areas of Stromlo Park and some stopped in trees along the creek to feed. Here were Red-browed Finch, 1 Black-fronted Dotterel, 2 Double-barred Finch, 1 White-eared Honeyeater, 1 White-naped Honeyeater, 1 White-plumed Honeyeater, Superb Wren, Welcome Swallow, 2 Red-rumped Parrot, 1 White-faced Heron.
Narrabundah Hill early afternoon – during a ride along the wet track, a large melodious flock of brightly coloured Silvereye were feeding along the Northern track region, also Scarlet Robin, Speckled Warbler, Yellow-rumped Thornbill, Superb Wren, Red-browed Finch, White-browed Scrubwren and small groups of YFHE were passing through at low levels from Mount Stomlo. A Brown Gosshawk was seen twice - flying over Narrabundah Hill and Stromlo Park.
A pleasing warm morning.
