Thanks for the photo. Can't see if the bird is banded. I'm with Harvey's advice to you on this. As for: I was puzzled as to why the bird didn't appear on the Booderee National Park Bird List. It is not that uncommon for park lists to not be fully complete, especially for rare species. Maybe yours might even be a first record for the site....... Though they are known to visit the NSW SE coastal areas. But when and where is now becoming ever more important information.

As for all the Yellow-faced Honeyeaters there .... migrating from our area??  We know a lot about their migration passing through specific points but we know amazingly little about which birds travel via which routes.

Hi Julie

This is a fantastic sighting! And yes, you should notify people including the Booderee Park people and also BirdLife Australia. The Regent Honeyeater is very scarce these days so any sighting is extremely important.

The following link gives some info on who you could contact  http://birdlife.org.au/documents/WB-If-you-see-a-Regent-Honeyeater.pdf

Well done,

Harvey

Hi All,

I just had 3 days staying at Jervis Bay and was interested to see all the Yellow-faced Honeyeaters there .... migrating from our area??

I spent Tuesday in Booderee National Park and was delighted to see my first Regent Honeyeater! (low quality photo attached)

I was puzzled as to why the bird didn't appear on the Booderee National Park Bird List.

Should I be mentioning the sighting to them?

Cheers

Julie
