For what it's worth, I think Black Honeyeaters have been much more regularly observed in the past few years than what these records show. Milburn and I have observed them every summer in Mulligans'/Goorooyaroo. From memory others have observed them there as well.

There are only 22 records in the COG database, with the closest to Higgins being 3 records from West Macgregor in 2009.

A friend of mine (Alison Milton) who lives in Holt sent me the following message yesterday afternoon:

Hi  John,

I thought you might be interested that I just spotted a pair of black honeyeaters in my almond tree. According to COG they are rare vagrants in Canberra.
