Thanks Steve. Why didn't I think to look up HANZAB? The material therein suggests that the Red-Kneed prefers to nest on dirt or vegetation in a more covered site than the Black-fronted. I was also surprised to find that while both are members of the family Charadriidae (Plovers and Lapwings) the Red-kneed is shown as a member of the Sub-family Vanellinae (Lapwings) rather than Charadriinae (plovers)
