Hi Geoffrey,
Thanks very much for that report. The bird you photographed was known to us as ‘Green-Orange’ given the band combination on the right leg. This was a female bird and at the time you took the photograph she was sitting on a nest further away from the dam than your green arrow. Unfortunately a fierce storm passed through on Monday night and the two nests we knew of (including hers) have been abandoned and we can’t find any of the birds. Hopefully they will now turn up somewhere exciting outside of the park boundary!
Regards, Dean

A Reg Hon (as in photo - but colour too enhanced here) seen Chiltern forest several times 530pm-730pm 16 Oct Green Hill Tk (?) at the waterhole. Repeatedly came to drink on dead limb in water in southern bay (white arrow). Appeared to go/come from eucs indicated by green arrow. No birds seen following morning – both days windy. Only one bird seen at one time, but the last appearance may have been of larger bird - above bird is N Miner size, later bird looked (with naked eye) to be closer to small R Wattlebird and possibly more strongly marked.
20 Swedish birdwatchers in 2 minibuses, accompanied by a bearded Queensland guide, were there earlier in the afternoon, but missed out.
