Not the old zoo site Geoffrey, which is being cleared for grazing. The old buildings have been bulldozed, as has all the vegetation little birds used. I understand there is still a long lease on that old zoo site (another 50 yrs or so to go on the lease), so it's still in private hands.

I don’t know for certain Chris, but I believe this is the corner site (Mugga Lane/ Narrabundah Lane) of the old zoo that was excised from the Callum Brae rural lease many years ago, and after years of disuse remains excised from the nature park.  From time to time I have met various potential users of the site including a miniature railway club, and it seems the pound has been decided on.  The site is quite birdy, but that merely takes us to the issue of how birds often prefer exotics and other plantings to ‘typical’ woodland.

Hi,

Apparently the RSPCA pound is being moved and the most likely spot is a vacant block that sits in the middle of the Callum Brae Nature Reserve.  Can anyone provide me with any further information?
