An amazing birdy day at home yesterday. Weebills singing all day, as was the
Golden Whistler that's been hanging around for a while. Plenty of noise and
activity from resident White-browed Scrubwrens, Brown Thornbills, Eastern
Spinebills and both pardalotes. In fact the only birds that were quiet were the
fairy-wrens! A male Scarlet robin made an appearance for a few minutes in the
neighbour's front yard.
I've been informed by a neighbour that a Satin Bowerbird has established a
bower in a yard in Marrakai Street, backing on to the corner of the Pinnacle
NR. I've seen bowerbirds in my street every now and then but not often. The
yard in question is only 160 meters from my front door. I went up to have a
look but couldn't get around the back of the yard as the Pinnacle is closed for
kangaroo control. Walking back down Dungowan St, a blue male bowerbird flew
across right in front of me!
Two weeks ago I had a Crescent Honeyeater at home. He roamed the neighbourhood
for a few days.
And last week, a Yellow-faced Honeyeater turned up at the bird bath with a gang
of Silvereyes.
Cheers
Anthony
