I think the “lump” is just an artefact caused by the shadow. The actual line of the throat and abdomen probably extends in a smooth line into the shadow.
Kym, if you email me the original I will put it into Photoshop and see if I can bring out a bit more detail there.

Your "This raptor appeared to have a lump in the crop area, unless it had just had a feed" is an immature Brown Goshawk (I'm not sure if you knew that). Your "it had just had a feed" is surely the reason for the "lump in the crop area". I wonder if it can be determined from the photo if the Cisticola is a young bird.

Late yesterday went out to see how things were, compared to sunday the water level has dropped heaps already, surprising
