I
would prefer not to have shooting and even more so, that no part of Australia
goes down the gun culture mentality of, for example the USA. However whilst this
issue of safety is a factor, I wonder if it really is that big. It
seems to me to be curious that many of us would be happy to drive a long way to
attend these places, yet show this concern. I would think the risk created by
the driving there (or even through your suburb) or getting lost or killed or
injured from any of many natural possibilities such as snake bite, falling tree
branches, fire, etc. is greater than the risk of accidental shooting.
I also
say again that sadly it seems to me that the elected politicians through a
cynical trade off are doing what most of the people want (or perhaps more than
the number that don't) in facilitating this shooting
proposal.
