Yesterday, taking advantage of the free buses from Woden and free tour buses around the site, I went to see the official launch of the national arboretum. (Though the parking in Woden cost me $5.) Along with huge numbers of other people, including some COG members. I was there something over 2 hours in pleasant weather, and although not trying too hard to find birds, I worked up a total of four species: Maned (AW) Duck, Rock Dove, Aust Magpie & Aust Raven. Maybe that qualifies it for Canberra's least birdy open space. This afternoon I got about 20 species in 5 minutes at Lanyon. Philip |
