Thanks Duncan for the tip-off. Visited the pond this morning - it was on the far side of the water on the west (?) end. Bonus included the Latham's snipe. Also walked around the West Belconnen Pond. Another Latham's, 2 White-faced herons, all the usual water birds/ducks found there, masked Lapwings, Australasian and Hoary-headed Grebes but no Painted Snipe.
