Geoffrey Dabb's pictures of cattle and intermediate egrets raises whether these birds are variants of the same species?
Until someone does whole genome analysis on these birds (and other species in similar comparisons) this issue
will remain an open question.  The next issue is , how many  sequence differences will be the threshold for splitting?

Does anyone know if a detailed approach is being made to answer these points?
