Today, at approximately 15.00hrs we again saw a White-necked heron at the 
homestead dam at Strathnairn Homestead Gallery. (off Stockdill Drive, Holt.) It 
appeared to be alone.
It had a rusty sheen or colouring on some of the wing feathers.
A second look some 45 minutes later showed it had a row of black/dark spots 
down the centre of the neck. At a different angle the rusty sheen was less 
noticeable.

It was watching the water intently, probed quickly with its beak and came up 
with what may have been a yabbie. For some reason it let the creature go.
