The dawn chorus is very obvious in the UK (or at least was 45 years ago before I left the place). However Des's message has led me to reflect on whether I noticed the phenomenon in the US. I don't recall it from the Western US, which may reflect my not being conscious at dawn. However in NYC in Spring early runs past the Ramble in Central Park were accompanied by copious birdsong.
