Professor David Lindenmayer, one of Australia's eminent ecologists working to save Victoria's critically endangered faunal emblem – the Leadbeater's possum, has resigned from his position through years of frustration and lack of action from the Victorian State Government. He says that the possum is likely to be extinct within 20 years if the Baillieu Government continues to sit idly by and subsidise the destruction of the remaining Leadbeater habitat for wood pulp. Talk about smacking your head against a brick wall!
