Fyshwick Sewage Ponds - numbering

I have previously drawn attention to this schism.  That one was the work many years ago of Bob Rusk to fill an important need at the time, and it remains on the lid of the box that contained the now long-gone sign-in book.  The reason we have two systems is the same reason we have more than one religion and more than one political party and why some people prefer ‘Pacific Koel’ over ‘Eastern Koel’.  The ACTEWAGL system did not come into bird-notifying use until relatively recently and is the product, no doubt, of the internet.  Those who prefer it would probably have flown TAA rather than Ansett, and preferred the Beatles to the Stones and don’t eat tripe.

It is noteworthy that the one attributed to Geoffrey is the one in the lid of the box by the top entry point.  I had assumed that was placed there by ACTEW who set up the box: why they now appear to have some alternative is bewildering.

There are two numbering systems for the various ponds at the FSP.

1. The COG (Dabb) map with ponds 1-7 at: http://www.canberrabirds.org.au/MapsFormsLists/FyshwickSewagePondsMap.htm

2. An ACTEWAGL system which Eremaea seems to favour: e.g.:
"Located across Dairy Flat Road from Jerrabomberra Wetlands (Kellys Swamp). Seven ponds of varying sizes; four together in the south of the site numbered 1a, 1b, 2a and 2b; and three together in the north of the site numbered 4, 3a and 3b. Please see the following link for ACTEWAGL numbering of ponds: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8275513/Fyshwick%20sewage%20ponds.pdf "
http://www.eremaea.com/Lists.aspx?List=142691

In Brendan Sheean's 's Eremaea posting yesterday (http://www.eremaea.com/Lists.aspx?List=142691),  he used the COG no. 7 description, but Eremaea included the above reference to the ACTEWAGL system.

Any suggestion as to a preferred usage for bird reports? 1-7 seems much easier to remember to me .
