I spent an hour plus in the area and dipped on Lewins Rail but did see 2 Buff-banded Rails to the East of the major footbridge.  A snap of one them, a screen shot of the area and some other witter is at  http://franmart.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/a-henny-expedition-to-forde.html

I was also interested to note driving back along Horse Park Drive that the bridge over the drain has been demolished.  Rather a nuisance for getting access to the Big Dam in Mulligans Flat.  Perhaps someone from CNP would care to explain why this has been done.

While looking for the Lewin’s Rail at Forde we found a Buff Banded Rail. It was in the spot west of the footbridge, first seen on the path and then in the lomandra near the waters edge. It had a large white eyebrow and buff band on the breast, so an adult Buff Banded. We also thought we heard another one up stream, but it may have been the same bird. No sign of the Lewin’s unfortunately.
