Winter bird monitoring recruitment

The Australian National University Sustainability Office ANUgreen are recruiting for their Winter bird monitoring in July: introductory workshop on 7th and survey on 14th.

The survey area will be centred around the University, with a total of 91 2-hectare survey sites. They have adopted the Birds Australia 2-hectare, 20-min search method. The data collected will build on the Lower Sullivans Creek Catchment Ecological Survey and Life in the Suburbs project, which can be accessed at http://www.lifeinthesuburbs.com.au/.

As with past surveys, community learning will be an integral part. The team will be joined by members from the Canberra Ornithologists Group (COG). Given the large survey area, they will also recruit the ACT community as volunteers. They will be teaming up COG experienced birdwatchers with 1-2 volunteers, to ensure a good learning process and quality data. Participating BirdLife Australia members will also be given a team of volunteers to lead and engage in the field.

There will be a thank you BBQ afterwards.

To take part in the survey contact Tim Yiu at m("anu.edu.au","tim.yiu");" href=""> or on 6125 2158.
