I am pleased to advise that after months of earthworks, planting , sowing , preparation etc this new public park and open space is now open for visitors.  My regular bi-monthly surveys have commenced with feedback to ACT authority. Only limited birdlife this mornin g including 50 plus wood ducks, 7 blackducks, one australian grebe and surprisingly 3 tiny w. ducklings.  Two lapwing plovers on the island, 4 housesparrows on telegraph wires plus 20 odd crested pigeons, with several pee wees, A. ravens, red wattlebirds  and magpies making up the number. The newly sown grass is germinating well and a surprise visit by plumed whistling ducks would be a bonus.
Good birding to all Terry B.
