Hello all,
I stopped at Rowes Lagoon briefly (about 65k from Canberra) on the way home
from Sydney yesterday12-4-12 at Lat 34 53' 54" S, Long 149 30' 50" E. The
Lagoon has been dry for years with cattle grazing on it but has water in it
at present. It is oval in shape and my guess is that it's about 700m across
the shorter distance and about 1k long. It has sparse juncus sp (or similar)
growing across the middle and a circle of mostly clear water about 100m wide
around the
edge. Birds seen near the Canberra end were:-
8 Black Swan with one on a nest
16 Coots
1 A Grebe
13 White Ibis
5 L Pied Cormorant
5 M Lapwings
2 Royal Spoonbill
10 YF Honeyeaters flew over
There were about 15 LP Cormorants, about 20 white waterbirds, probably W
Ibis plus some other species on the Sydney side.
Should I be putting in some sort of report or this sufficient?
Cheers
Peter
