I had an unexpected sighting while strolling near overcast Lake
Ginninderra at 9.15am yesterday (5th April). Behind the usual water birds, flew in what I took to be a blackbird amongst plastic bag lined reeds, but on closer scrutiny it turned out to be a Spotless Crake 350m from Belconnen Mall! It stayed for a little over a minute at the end of a short drain. (see red circle on map below -35.231301,149.065458) I pulled out a camera for a few quick photos https://picasaweb.google.com/bronkin/SpotlessCrake?authkey=Gv1sRgCLjpk-rlpZO8EA # I assume this is fairly rare and worth an email. Should I record it more formally? Bron King Melba |
