I'm sure Bruce will prepare a report for Gang-Gang, but on behalf of
those who attended, thank you for a great outing. Bruce had decided
Blundells Ck Rd might be a little risky after the recent very heavy
rain, so we birded around Uriarra, with excellent results. Three
tawny frogmouths (thanks Rhonda for spotting those) and a
Black-fronted dotterel on a nest with 3 eggs in a crack in the
bitument carpark were highlights, as was what could only be described
as a feeding frenzy of grey fantails around Uriarra East and a
Yellow-rumped thornbill feeding and chasing anxiously after an almost
independent Horsfields bronze cuckoo. The big dam at Uriarra homestead
yielded three Nankeen night herons, first time I've seen them there. I
believe the official list was close to 60 species in total for the
three sites we visited, so a very good outing.
