"Andrew" is mentioned periodically in this forum, so I thought an
update was in order. He used to frequent the podium level bistro
area, but was discouraged from there, so has been in residence in the
Library's loading bay for many months. He's often perched on building
contractors' utes, supervising their comings and goings, on the
sawhorses or other equipment set up there, or above the walkway, and
occasionally parades around the loading bay carpark area with tail
gloriously displayed. He's a very handsome peacock! This morning I
didn't see him as I walked in to deliver some Birds of Canberra
Gardens for the NLA bookshop, and found him perched inside the
receiving bay next to the security desk, atop the forklift, with tail
aloft. He is now remarkably tame, and seems to enjoy all the
attention from staff and other visitors to the loading dock.
