Howdy All,
Thank you everyone. Geoffrey's pics is spot on, and it's something
I've never seen before. Thanks also to the link with the call sent
privately...... aspects of that call were emphasised and much more
frog-like in the bird I saw here, but it definitely all fits. Well
that is definitely something I've never seen here before.
Out of interest, how big actually IS the bird? I'm guessing that it
must be something like Red Wattle Bird size, but much shorter tail
and chuckier look? It was hard to tell against the sky with nothing
to judge it by, but it looked something like that sort of size? I've
looked up the numbers and it is apparently average of about 6 or 7cm
shorter than an RWB, but I am guessing that most of that would be the
much longer tail on the RWB? Which would put the body size about the
same? Like I said, not something I've ever seen in person. For some
reason I had in mind that Dollarbirds were quite small, so I was
surprised to see the 28cm average size on the website I was sent
(Thanks Robin).
Thanks again to all of you for your help. Sorry if it is common and
I "should have known" it already.
Cheers.
