Hi Scott

Both species are resident in the ACT but can be elusive.

Chestnut-rumped Heathwren are still in the Pierce’s Creek area as far as I know, they were recorded earlier this year, search the list archive  for directions and site information.

Spotted Quail-thrush are possible anywhere along the Mt Franklin-Mt Ginini Rd, Bull’s Head is certainly one good place to look. Best bet might be an early morning drive up there, they are quite often on the road at higher elevations. Other places you could try are the Square Rock Track, and some of the higher elevation tracks at Tidbinbilla eg have seen them on the Devils Gap Trail a couple of times.

Cheers

Steve

Subject: [canberrabirds] Info on Spotted Quail-thrush please

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on where I could look for Spotted Quail-thrush & Chestnut-rumped Heathwren,  in the ACT & whether I was likely to find them at this time of year.

Thanks greatly,

Scott Ryan
