Possible nesting site for Nankeen Kestrels on Oakey Hill - single bird sighted yesterday morning peering out from a large gum tree hollow.  It appeared to be watching me intently when it was suddenly attacked by a Currawong - a mid air skirmish ensuing with both birds giving as good as they got before they landed, Kestrel atop a powerline pylon, Currawong on the line itself a few metres away.  The Currawong then proceeded to "crab" sideways along the wire till it was close enough to have another half-hearted swoop.  It then repeated this process from the other side before loosing interest and returning to the gum tree.  On the other side of the same tree a pair of King Parrots inspecting a second hollow were displaced by an Indian Myna.  A pair of Crimson Rosellas took advantage of the situation and stoped by for an inspection of their own.  I wonder who will win the battle for that spot - hopefully not the Myna.

Other recent sightings (late pm Friday) include a Black-shouldered Kite hovering above Coppins Crossing Road not far from William Hovell Drive.  Also last Monday a Boobook calling (again) in Spowers Cct Holder.

Cheers
