I have now heard back from the Parks Service forwarding a reply from the AFP.  Rather than waste people's time with a long reply here is my response to the Parks Officer.

Dear Suzie

Thank you very much for your reply.

The response from AFP is very poor with no hint of an apology nor any indication of willingness to change their procedures.

In response my warning COG members about this activity a question has been raised as to why such activities are not undertaken on the Majura Range which is well signposted to warn of the dangers of firing etc,  This is a very good question.

I suggest that the Parks Service should require that if this use of Section 1570 is to continue:

  1. There should be a clear warning sign placed on the gate indicating that explosives are in use in section 1570 and use of the road is prohibited (including for the sewage trucks) during that operation.  Very few members of the public would understand the red flag.
  2. The use of aerial explosives in particular during the raptor breeding season
