Many of the traditional sites for Superbs (Wallaroo Rd, Mt Rogers, Hawker Ovals) are outside the scope of the GBS. However the Survey does show an interesting pattern. I will write this up more fully later today but the basic picture is that the number of Superb Parrot reported in the GBS has increased sharply, but quite consistently, since Year 23 (2003 - 04). Over the full period of the GBS the species has been reported at least once in 49 of the Survey weeks, but the core period seems to start in the first week of September (ie last week) and end in the 4th week of January. In terms of the number of birds reported the peak is essentially December. The conclusion of the period has remained reasonably constant, but the start has become earlier year by year.
