Hello
Lindell,
Yes it
certainly does look like a Brown-headed Honeyeater. This behaviour has been
noted several times before of Honeyeaters pulling fur from animals (no doubt as
lining for their nest, so you could I guess use this as a NB record). There were
some articles (or just 1?) on the subject in Aust Bird Watcher, I
think, several years ago. Well I actually know of it from koalas, sheep and
people and I think it was White-eared Honeyeaters, but no reason why various
Honeyeater species would not do it. I have not ever seen it. Probably happens
much more that we get to see, let alone photograph.

for birds, but I couldn't help myself on this one. Am I right in saying
that this is a Brown-headed Honeyeater picking what-evers from the fir of this
local? It is the last thing I would have expected to see. Couldn't get any
closer or they both would have moved on.
And right when I thought that the Robin varieties had headed back to the
hills we counted 17 Flame Robins (8 males, 2 immatures and 7 females) on the
open ground below the Turkey Hill walk, and a pair of Scarlets closer to the
parking lot and trees on the right. 5 Australasian Pipits, and many Dusky
Woodswallows were between the carpark and the hill top.
